Ken Major, M.Sc.(A)., CIH, ROH, is an Occupational Hygienist with over 10 years of experience in the delivery of occupational health solutions. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC) and a Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) with the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).

Work Experience

 

From 2013 - 2021, Mr. Major worked as an Occupational Hygienist / Occupational Health & Safety Northern Projects Manager at a private consulting firm, specializing in the provision of industrial hygiene / occupational health and safety (IH/OHS) services in remote sites across northern Canada. He provided occupational health consulting services to municipal, provincial, territorial, and federal governments to support mining, manufacturing, military, and construction projects. He conducted assessments during product manufacturing, welding, wood treatment, smelting, underground mining operations, and hazardous material abatement activities. He has extensive experience conducting pre-renovation/demolition designated substances and hazardous materials surveys, indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments, sound level and noise exposure assessments, mould assessments, respirator fit testing, client-specific COVID-19 response, IH/OHS document reviews, project management, contractor recruitment, training, and supervision. In 2019, he received two letters of reference from the Government of Nunavut Department of Economic Development & Transportation and the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay for exceptional project management and professionalism in support of field operations.

 

In 2021, Mr. Major accepted a position with the OHS Compliance and Operations Unit of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), Government of Canada, as an Industrial Hygienist / Program Advisor. He provided guidance to Officials Delegated to the Head of Compliance and Enforcement and Senior Investigators, provided OHS technical support internally and to federally regulated stakeholders, participated in technical committees, and assisted with the interpretation and enforcement of the Canada Labour Code and associated OHS Regulations.

 

In 2022, Mr. Major moved to Health Canada's Public Service Occupational Health Program (PSOHP). Under the PSOHP, Health Canada provides occupational health medical advice, guidance, and services to the Core Public Administration. The program is delivered by medical officers, nurse practitioners, occupational health nurses, and occupational hygienists to federal public servants and their dependents domestically and internationally.

 

Major Occupational Health Solutions (MajorOHS) was founded in 2023 to provide honest and affordable health and safety consulting services to clients across Canada.
